Vintage Submersible
Submersible first appeared in the PreV age, but it bears no significant difference with any other models in specification which is perhaps due to the influence of Stallone in the commercial field. We all know that Panerai is a top diving watch brand in 1930 to 1940 thanks to the Rolex case and its advanced water-proof technology. While in the 1950s, with the launch of 50 fathoms of Blancpain, it set a new definition for diving watch, namely, with an automatic movement, reducing the chance of waterproof capacity deduction due to manual winding and having a one-way rotating bezel with minutes scale. In terms of these technologies, Panerai were lagging behind.
Of course, Panerai would never be willing to lag behind, though it was unable to produce automatic movement at that time, it did a lot of work in studying the rotating bezel with minutes scale. Following is a prototype testing watch of 6152/1 with rotating bezel in the 1950s.
Vendome Submersible
Coming back to the modern time from the antique age, in the early autumn of 1997, Cartier/Vendome took the production sector of wrist watch from the Panerai family, but it turned out that there is no the so-called modern diving watch. So it immediately launched the Automatic winding models of modern diving watch which was called contemporary series at that time. From the very beginning, PAM 024 and PAM 025 were the only two models which were produced every year with no interruption.
